Last day in Hong Kong

Today we hop on our hotel shuttle to 中港城 and Harbor City in Kowloon to do a bit of window shopping or actual shopping. As per the norm now, everywhere on the streets of HK and in her shopping centers there are Mainland shoppers dishing out their CNY. There is no secret that the Chinese are propping up the retail sectors wherever they go in droves .....

The day turns out to be showery and wet and so we are in  rain coats.... The Harbor City is so big (it's actually several malls joined together in one long row) that we never have to venture out to the streets but there is only so much one can do with walking in a Mall and so we make our way to the Avenue of Stars on the Victoria Harbor to have a look see.

Looking on at the HK island

Wet wet wet

There is only so much to do and see in the rain so we return to our hotel for a bit of rest. After dinner we make it to the harbor again to see and experience the Festival of Light Laser show. The rain has receded by 8pm, and Hong Kong is donning her beautiful dress and she puts on a show for the tourists.

Although it is still a bit cloudy but the clouds thankfully stay above the skyline so we do get a pretty good view of HK island ....

We actually make it to see the show and even manage some nice pics for us to remember by. I don't think we will be back to HK that soon in the foreseeable future and so at least we get to share the night with other tourists and locals at this beautiful harbor side.

Next day

On our flight out to KL I was greatly surprised to meet SFO Jonathan on board the A320 because you just don't get this chance in life, do you? Ha ha. Jonathan was on his return leg back to KL and he was equally, if not more, surprised to see me greet him!

Needless to say he would not let me off without taking some pics of his office..... It's a privilege for me to keep these rare photos of us and I got to play airline pilot for a few minutes.

And since he was so nice to send us back to Bayu after we arrived in KL we decided we must have dinner with him; and where else but Mum's Place?

And I also got these day and night pics of the twins as a bonus....

So much for our 3 weeks on the road. We have seen much, enjoyed a lot of Taiwan in particular and gained much insights into the different cultures and peoples we met on our journey. Although we missed our loved ones and our home when we were on the road but nothing would ever replace the pluses we gained. There were some minuses such as experiencing some of the Mainlanders' habits on display but, heck. the bad comes with the good.

Most of all, I got to meet my new family members and fulfilled my goal of seeing MZ and Fenshuicun in person. I was thankful and this should remain in my memory .....

We want to do this again, as soon as we can get ourselves organized ......
