Our typical breakfast at Ramada, plus some toasts, 馒头 and coffee. This is because we dare not eat meat and other cooked food on offer at the buffet.
This morning we visit The Hakka Garden.
Unfortunately the Hakka Museum is closed today (Sunday) and so I missed out on finding out a bit about the Hakka culture, and the migrations of the Hakka people from the North of China to the South over centuries.
I am surprised how clean the stream is and that it is liveable for fish.
弟妹 got to be interviewed by 中央电视台 which happened to be doing a documentary about the Hakka Garden
We also go to the 人民广场 and climb a nearby hill in order to view the surrounding scenery
The Hakka Tulou indoor stadium and an outdoor football stadium
They are courageous to build an indoor stadium in the shape of a Tulou.
Tonight's dinner is on us again because we like to be their hosts. We have gone to this restaurant that specialises in Hakka 大埔 dishes. We requested for 大埔 dishes because my mom is 大埔 Hakka.
This 豆腐煲 is our favorite dish
Mushroom + celery in claypot
咸菜竹旬
金針抄鸡肉
Some sort of a soup
Stir fried water chestnuts with celery and carrots
Stir fried 南瓜 with garlic
芋圆
Soon 板
算盘子
野菜板汤
老鼠板
It is a very happy dinner. Everyone enjoys the atmosphere and SM and I particularly appreciate the fact that they order more vegetables to suit us. I feel the happiness around the table and the closeness we share as a family. They have openly accepted us as the same family and the dinner atmosphere clearly shows it.
It's our last meal with the family for this trip before we leave for HK tomorrow. We have had a great time visiting MZ and the village. I feel a little sad to leave and I wish I have allocated more ground time at MZ rather than spending 4 nights in the useless Xiamen. On the other hand we are ready to move on to HK so that we can get on back to KL.
Already SM had said to me several times during this trip that she missed our home......
