Family dinner at Jack and Mai's

Saturday we got invited by nephew Jack to their home for steam boat dinner. Nothing beats a steaming hot steam boat on a cold night. SM made a salt and pepper calamari salad. I found this Vietnamese satay sauce amazing and had to take a photo of it so we can go and get one for our home.

Site survey to Mushroom Farm, Mernda

IT TOOK ME 1 HOUR 40 MINUTES TO REACH Mernda from my home this morning in peak traffic. And that's just 40km .... Inevitably I got caught in early morning traffic in Greensborough, then Mill Park. It was chokkers.

The Mernda Mushroom Exchange is not a pretty place because growing mushrooms is dirty business - it's humid, dusty, wet. But they produce 200 tons of mushrooms every month. That's a lot of mushrooms.

They are here!

FINALLY THE 3 UNITS OF order pickers are shipped from Sydney for one of my customers - a bike components company. These units will be on the new customer site from May for 10 weeks until the new units ordered for them from our USA factory arrive.

The logistics of organizing the short term units are harder than doing hand stands. OMG. There are so many hurdles and hoops to go through to get my hand on these s/t trucks it is unbelievable. If the hand of God hasn't been there to make it happen I do not think I would be here telling this tale. Welcome to the real world .....

Friday dinner

Dumpling King, Box Hill dinner with SM. 花雕醉鸡,四季豆,水煮鱼, to mark the end of a week, also the end of my 6 months back to full time work.

My mom is feeling much better, her eyesight is fully restored, she's down to 2 penadols a day to ward off the pain in her hip. She and my dad are prodding me, every time we meet, to apply for her new passport. They want to go overseas but I am very very apprehensive that they cannot look after themselves adequately when traveling on their own.

Just about the only way this will work out is if I am accompanying them on such an overseas trip. And at this point in time this is near impossible.....

That is another reminder that if we want to do an activity that demands some physical well-being, do it now when we can handle it.

Day off

I AM TAKING A DAY OFF TODAY to do a few things: get my annual blood tests done (I am worried about my cholesterol problem!), "celebrate" the end of my 6 months back to the work force after a 1510-day break (more a commemorative action, really), taking it easy by myself for a day (SM's at work!); and finally, do a mini-review of my life journey.

6 months ago on October 5 last year I wrote my blog post "it is the process of flying and the air journey that counts for me" when I knew I was going to embark on a different phase of my life. This phase is going to take more-or-less 3 years (October 2012 to December 2015).

How did it go? I guess so far so good.

Am I treating myself well?

Am I happy and fulfilled?

Are the people around me better off because of me?

Are there anything else I need to do/wish to do to enhance my sense of achievement for this phase of life journey?

Absolutely.

All relevant questions. But I am relaxed because I am flying in fair weather at the moment although there were in the last 6 months moments of anxiety owing to some storm fronts along my flight path i.e. some health issues and some work-related issues. Nonetheless it would appear it has been an above average journey.

In the next 6 months I like to set some solid goals for the remainder of this phase of life and I have come across this Goal Setting website which seems to offer some good toolboxes.

So there you have it. My review is done, time for a cup of Lavazza and fix up a few minor things in the house.....
