This year we decided to have a CNY reunion dinner again. My eldest brother wanted to shout us and by popular demand he booked the Forefront Eatery Cafe and Restaurant in the city. We decided to have the dinner not on the eve of the CNY because we could only be given the time slot of having the dinner between 5.30pm and 7.3opm due to other customer bookings.

We felt that this constraint was too rush for a proper meal and so we decided to have the reunion dinner on the 年二十九 night instead i.e. on he 24 Jan 2009. Dinner was to start from 6.30pm unfortunately the restaurateur (Serene) got the menu mixed up and so there was a huge delay. On top of that 3 of the main dishes booked by my brother would not be available as they had been missed out in their cooking preparations! Not good.

Anyway we pushed on and the food started being served from 8.15pm. We were starving. The saving grace for the restaurant was that the food was excellent. Great taste and well presented. All of us enjoyed the food.
My brother was adamant that we should try the 3 dishes (八宝鸭， 乞丐鸡和罗汉祭） we missed out having at the dinner and he organized for us to come back to the restaurant for another meal on 8 March 2009. Talk about a foodie!
The meal was enjoyable and we decided to go to Mom and Dad's to 拜年 on the first day of CNY ie on Monday 26 Jan 2009 (also being Australia Day).
After dinner Pat, David and us decided to have a cup of coffee and so we walked to Queen Victoria Mall and had cappuccinos and latte while the kids had a chocolate dip at the Max Brenner Cafe. The night was cool, maybe around 18 C and so it was very pleasant to have a cuppa al fresco.

CNY reunion dinner is a tradition we vow to keep to bring as many of the family and extended family back to the dinner table as possible where we share food and love around great food and love. We did miss a brother and his family this year again as they live in Singapore. Our eldest sister has her own family and so she will celebrate their own reunion. Many around the world this night and the eve of CNY will have this kind of family dinner. We wish friends and families happy year of the Ox. 新年快乐！身体健康！财源滚滚来！
