Today we had lunch at Sin's place in Northcote. He cooked for us vegetarian meals:- curry vege with bamboo shoots, another vege dish of beans, mushrooms and tofu, yam cakes, glutinous rice and red bean soup. It was an all vegetarian fare as it was a 疏食day.
Today's weather was blue sky and light breeze, about 26C. Forecast for the next 4 days for Melbourne is horrific. It is going to be 40C every day for the next 4 days; and not very cooling at night either, only about 25C. We enjoyed the cool day today while we could.
We are going to tone down on the partying from today. SM and I are going on holiday soon. There are tons of things I gotta get done this week before our trip. Then Mom and Dad are going to visit friends and relatives in Singapore, KL, Ipoh and Penang during the months of March and April. We talked about celebrating Mom's and my birthdays in July.
Today was also Australia Day. It was to commemorate the arrival of Captain Cook on this continent in 1788. It is considered the National Day. Of course Australia is part of the British Empire and it is not independent from Great Britain and so we do not celebrate Independence Day or National Day. It was a double celebration of sorts. In Malaysia we would call this Gong Xi Raya being a double celebration of CNY and Hari Raya.
Today we missed out on Nick, Wai Ping and Tamsin who live in Singapore; and Andrew who now lives in Brisbane. Victor and Kristina were not here today. They would be coming to visit on another day.
