Nasi Kandar dinner

GOOD FRIENDS DARREN AND LINDA got us over for nasi kandar dinner tonight. Linda cooked all the beautiful dishes which included ayam kumar, beef rendang, acar, Thai salad, fried fish, and of course; biryani rice and the mandatory white wine (Gossip - Semillon Sauvignon Blanc).

Biryani rice needs to be served hot in a rice bowl and then the contents poured out onto a plate, making the rice sit in a dome shape on the plate!

Ayam kumar consisted of chicken pieces cooked in mild curry gravy with fresh cashew nuts.

The beef rendang was the best dish, it was juicy, creamy, lots of coconut infused flavor and slightly spicy. The meat was surprisingly tender. Linda used topside beef.

The Gossip was slightly acidic, but fresh and fruity. Beautiful with Asian spicy dishes.

Derek will be returning to KL for his Year 5 next year

Dessert was a fantastic sticky date pudding cooked by Emilie. Beautifully flavorsome and soft, slightly warm. Served with whipped cream. Voila!
